Growing Lives University Day (Post-16 pupils)

Our Post 16 Growing Lives event is designed to give care experienced young people the chance to look around a real university, together with interactive workshops to give them some key information about higher education and how they can access it. The structure of the day is as follows:

  • 10am: arrival, snacks and welcome – our lovely staff and student ambassadors (current NTU students) will be there to provide a warm welcome
  • 10.30am – 11.15am: session 1: designed to introduce our visitors to some key points about higher education and how it works  
  • 11.15am – 11.30am: break
  • 11.30am – 12.15pm: fun and relaxed tour of campus showing our visitors what a university is like, the sorts of places they would study and live –an introduction into what a university is and how it works. This will be done by our lovely NTU student ambassadors - they can ask them anything
  • 12.15pm – 1.15pm: lunch – provided by us  
  • 1.15pm – 2.00pm: session 2 – designed to give our visitors an overview of university and the chance to grill a current student on what it’s really like
  • 2.00pm – 2.30pm: finishing session: an introduction to various schemes to support their progression to Higher Education and hopefully the chance to speak to some current NTU students who are care-experienced together with a representative from NTU who can explain the support available at a university for young people in their position
