Our Pre 16 Growing Lives event is designed to give care experienced children and young people the chance to experience university, together with interactive workshops to identify and celebrate their strengths and transferrable skills. The structure of the day is as follows:

  • 10am: arrival, snacks and welcome – our lovely staff and student ambassadors (current NTU students) will be there to provide a warm welcome
  • 10.30am – 11.15am: session 1: designed to support our visitors to identify their strengths and how these could be useful in the future
  • 11.15am – 11.30am: break
  • 11.30am – 12.15pm: fun and relaxed tour of campus showing our visitors what a university is like, the sorts of places they would study and live –an introduction into what a university is and how it works. This will be done by our lovely NTU student ambassadors - they can ask them anything
  • 12.15pm – 1.15pm: lunch – provided by us
  • 1.15pm – 2.00pm: session 2 – designed to give our visitors an overview of university and the chance to grill a current student on what it’s really like
  • 2.00pm – 2.30pm: finishing session: an introduction to various schemes to support their progression to Higher Education and hopefully the chance to speak to some current NTU students who are care-experienced
