The evening will be a one stop shop to answer any questions you may have about about your transition to university. There will be interactive workshops and information stands to give you the opportunity to have a friendly and informal chat with current university students and staff. The event will include information on:
- the transition to university
- results day and clearing
- funding support from SHU
- careers and employability support from SHU
- academic skills
- student life including the Students' Union
At the SHU Progress Event, as a care leaver, you can find out more about our bespoke pre entry and on course support offer. There will be several university departments at the event, many of which have a designated contact for care leavers such as inclusive support, careers or student funding.
If you are not yet a member of SHU Progress, you can join the scheme prior to the event by asking a supporter (e.g. teacher or personal advisor) to nominate you to the scheme using the short online form on www.shu.ac.uk/shuprogress. A major benefit of the scheme is that we will support your travel costs to and from events, including the June preparation event. You may also bring a supporter with you such as a foster carer, teacher, college tutor, social worker or local authority personal advisor.
Location: Sheffield Hallam University, City Campus
