The ‘Care Leaver Internship Scheme’ provides 12-month paid internships, to work in a range of Government Departments. These are valuable ring-fenced opportunities for care leavers aged 18-30 years, to gain experience of working in central Government and to build and strengthen their competences and workplace skills.
The majority of internships will be London-based and there are also internships available in: Aldershot, Andover, Birkenhead, Birmingham, Bristol, Chelmsford, Coventry, Croydon, Darlington, Eastleigh, High Wycombe, Leeds, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Nottingham, Peterborough, Reading, Sheffield, Warrington and Watford (also Glasgow and Swansea).

At a national level, salaries for EO are likely to start from £21,889; and for AO from £18,186 (but will be higher in London). There may be opportunity for AO roles to be considered for those candidates who narrowly miss the required standard for an EO role.
