UCL’s Access & Widening Participation Office are supporting an academic team based in the Thomas Coram research centre to conduct research into care leavers’ experience in HE.
As part of this research we are investigating the institutional arrangements and services that are in place at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to support students from these backgrounds.
Following insights from the literature, we have produced a survey which aims to find out what HEIs are doing to engage students and to create a sense of belonging to academic programmes. The first part of this is a survey of HEI’s arrangements for supporting care-leavers and their institutional responses to issues raised in the literature on student retention.
We are currently inviting responses to this survey, and are keen to get as many responses as possible.
We would be delighted if you could help by completing the survey questions by 29th August; we are aware that no one job role will know all the answers and it may be necessary to ask colleagues for information. All the answers you give in the survey will be kept confidential between you and the researchers on the project. When we write up the results of our research we won’t use names of HEIs or any other identifying information.
