Brunel University London

Brunel University London welcomes care leavers from all over the UK. We have dedicated staff prior to university and dedicated support for students at university.

Our widening access officer Karen Western provides information support and advice to staff working with care experienced young people. Organising tailored events for children in care from year six, at Brunel we are dedicated to improving opportunities and work closely with virtual schools to organise bespoke events.

Karen welcomes students making contact prior to starting university. This can include open day visits, phone calls and e-mails to answer any queries relating to university alongside support with UCAS applications.

Care leavers are given priority accommodation throughout the duration of their studies. There is a Care Leavers bursary if the eligibility criteria is met.

Patricia Dore is the dedicated point of contact in the Student Centre providing support information and guidance. There is access to wellbeing services including counselling, dyslexia, disability and learning support.
