Kent, Surrey and Sussex ARC Community of Practice: Care leavers well-being and support needs during and after Covid-19

Summary

We are delighted to invite you to join us at the NIHR Applied Research Collaborative in Kent Surrey and Sussex (ARC KSS) digital event which focuses on the wellbeing of care leavers.

Date: 25th November 2020

Time: 10am – 12pm

Many care leavers are likely to have found the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown difficult and may struggle to re-engage post-lockdown. This event will give you the opportunity to hear from care leavers, researchers from the University of Sussex and the Creative Research Collective and service providers across the region. They will share findings and key messages from the Beyond Lockdown study which explored the impact of Covid-19 on care leavers and their support needs as lockdown restrictions ease. The study involved a national online survey and online coproduction workshops with care leavers and services providers across the region.

Care leavers will share their experiences of lockdown, the impact on well-being and daily life during Covid-19 and present their key messages for both services and care leavers on their support needs going forward. Mark Riddell MBE, (Trafford Council) who has acted as National Adviser for Care Leavers to the Department for Education, will give an overview of the national picture concerning the wellbeing of care leavers and issues regarding Covid-19.
