We are committed to ensuring that care leavers can access and succeed at the University of Bristol. From thinking about applying, through to graduation, we offer support and guidance to help care experienced students have a successful university experience.
We provide a named contact to support you at application stage (Katie Whalley), as well as during your time studying with us (Maria Tottle). Once you’re studying with us, you will have access to 1:1 coaching and tea & cake socials, as well as being able to join our SU Care Leavers and Estranged students network.
If you have spent three months or more in local authority care, you will be eligible for a contextual offer. Our contextual offer is a grade reduction of up to two grades below the standard entry requirements.
Our Bristol Standalone Bursary offers care leavers £1,500 for each year of study (not NHS funded years), and our Unite Foundation Scholarship provides recipients with free en-suite accommodation in Unite House or Orchard Heights for three years of undergraduate study.
If you’re considering visiting us at one of our open days, you can find a voucher for travel reimbursement on our Care Leavers info page.
If you have any questions about your application to Bristol or about the support available to you as a care experienced student, you can get in touch with Katie via [email protected] or by calling 01174 283326.
