Getting it right for care experienced students in higher education
A partnership between UCL Access and Widening Participation
UCL Institute of Education, Working with TCRU
This report explores the student experience in higher education alongside institutional arrangements, from the perspective of current and former care-experienced students, to encourage, or discourage, care-experienced students to follow their chosen study programme.
The project has drawn upon a review of widening participation literature, a survey of higher education institutional arrangements and services and participatory approaches employed with current and former university students who were care-experienced to explore university life. Working together, researchers and participants analysed data, co-creating core narratives which reflected lived experiences.
