UCAS: A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO SUPPORTING CARE-EXPERIENCED APPLICANTS
This guide is intended for those who are not familiar with the UCAS application, and takes them through each stage of the journey giving practical tips on how they can support applicants throughout:
Discover your options: using the UCAS Hub to explore pathways, research options and understand what support is available
Search and shortlist: find courses and providers
Apply and send: how to complete the UCAS application – and how (and why) to share circumstances
Decisions and offers: understanding and replying to offers, tracking decisions, results and confirmation, and how to use Clearing
Get ready to go: sorting the practicalities ready for the start of term
Alongside the detailed guidance on the UCAS application process, we’ve included dedicated information in this guide to specifically support those applying with a care background. We plan to release further versions of the guide for applicants from other under-represented backgrounds later this year (e.g. disabled students, young adult carers, refugees).
